Here’s the tea on sustainable ambition.
You can love your work and still be tired of what it takes to keep it all going.
What if success wasn’t so exhausting?
Let’s keep this conversation going.
Get Capacity in Chaos in your inbox: practical, science-backed, nerd-tested insights on stress, nervous system regulation, and sustainable ambition (with a little real-life chaos and the occasional strongly worded email story thrown in).
Because you can love what you do without letting it take over your life.
Occasional emails. Useful ideas. No productivity guilt trips.
You know what to do. So why is it so hard to do it under pressure?
You know you should pause before responding to that email.
You know that difficult conversation will go better if you don’t walk into it already activated.
You know that saying yes to one more thing isn’t always the right answer.
You know you shouldn’t take a difficult interaction personally and still spend the drive home composing increasingly eloquent versions of what you should have said (your imaginary rebuttal is absolutely flawless, by the way).
Knowing what to do and being able to access it under pressure are two different things.
When stress rises, it can become harder to think clearly, regulate your reactions, and respond intentionally.
That isn’t a character flaw. It’s part of how humans respond to demands.
And it gives us a different place to start.
What if the answer isn’t managing stress better, but building more capacity?
Capacity in Chaos brings together nervous system education, HeartMath-informed practices, and practical guidance tested in the messy real world to help you understand your stress responses and build more flexibility in how you respond.

The work centers on four skills:
Notice. Recognize what’s happening in your nervous system, thoughts, and reactions when pressure rises.
Regulate. Practice techniques to help you work with your stress response and create more space to choose how you respond.
Apply. Put those skills to work in real-life situations, from high-stakes decisions to difficult conversations (yes, even when that email is testing every last nerve).
Integrate. Turn what you’re learning into sustainable patterns that support how you want to lead, work, and live.
These skills aren’t about eliminating stress or staying calm all the time.
They’re about building more choice in the moments that matter.
What could change if pressure had less control over how you show up? Could you…
- Handle a difficult conversation without avoiding it or going into it ready for a fight.
- Make a decision without letting urgency make it for you.
- Finish a demanding day without bringing all of its tension into the rest of your life.
Not because the pressure disappears, but because you have more ways to meet it.
That’s the foundation of sustainable ambition: building the capacity to pursue meaningful work without constantly paying for it with your well being.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
The ideas behind Capacity in Chaos are ones I explore in my newsletter, where I dig into the science of stress, nervous system regulation, and what it actually takes to sustain ambition without running yourself into the ground.
Not just what we should do under pressure, but why it’s so hard to do it—and how we can practice responding differently (even on the days when our best intentions go completely out the window).
If that’s the kind of conversation you want more of, I’d love to have you along.
