Build a career you don’t have to recover from.
You don’t need less ambition. You need a nervous system that can support it.
You’re good at what you do. You solve problems, navigate complexity, lead teams, and keep things moving.
But sometimes that same brain that can solve a production incident at 2 a.m. won’t let you fall asleep at 10 p.m. (And sometimes it drafts an unnecessarily spicy email at 9:47 p.m. while your keyboard begs for mercy from your angry pounding. Ask me how I know!)
You don’t have to choose between being successful and feeling like yourself.
I’m Ally Bubb, founder of Work Authentically. I help high-performing women and leaders build the nervous system capacity to meet pressure with more clarity, choice, and authenticity.
Work Authentically means making room for more of you.
Not just the polished, capable, professional version.
The thoughtful version. The playful version. The version that can handle a difficult conversation without replaying it for three days. The version that comes home with enough energy to be present with the people who matter.
Capacity in Chaos helps you build the capacity so you can work authentically.
You know how to handle pressure. But do you like who you become under it?
You’re the person people count on.
You solve the problem. Lead the meeting. Navigate the difficult conversation. Keep the project moving when everything seems to be on fire (why is
everything on fire every. Single. Week?!?!).
You know how to deliver.
But when the pressure keeps piling up, maybe you notice something else:
-
You’re more impatient with people you care about.
-
Your brain keeps working long after you’ve closed your laptop.
-
You replay conversations and second-guess decisions.
-
You have less energy for the people and things that matter outside work.
-
You react in ways that don’t feel like you (and wish you could have handled things differently).
And maybe the most frustrating part?
You know you’re capable of showing up differently. It’s just tough when you’re stretched so thin.
This isn’t about being a better person, trying harder, or mastering one more productivity hack.
It’s about understanding what happens under pressure AND building the capacity to respond in ways that reflect who you actually are. It’s about being who you want to be when it matters.
You can’t always control the pressure. You can build your capacity to respond to it.
Stress can influence your attention, emotional responses, decision-making, and interactions with other people.
When you’re under sustained pressure, it can become harder to pause, see the bigger picture, and choose how you want to respond.
You might default to pushing through, snapping at someone, shutting down, or saying yes when you really mean no.
Not because that’s who you are, but because responding intentionally can be harder when you’re overloaded.
Nervous system regulation is one way to build more space between what happens and how you respond.
The goal isn’t to feel calm all the time.
The goal is to have more choice about how you respond.
That space gives you an opportunity to reconnect with your values, think more clearly, and choose how you want to show up.
Not perfectly. Not calmly every second of every day.
But more often, even when things get messy.
And sometimes the pressure isn’t just about the work. It’s the extra effort of establishing credibility, navigating bias, being the only one in the room, or feeling like you have to prove yourself all over again.
You can’t always control those conditions. Learning to regulate your stress doesn’t mean accepting conditions that need to change. It means building skills that support you while you navigate those realities.
Capacity in Chaos helps you build the capacity so you can work authentically.
You don’t need to care less, try less, or shrink your ambitions.
You need tools to help you navigate the demands you’re carrying without constantly running on stress.
Capacity in Chaos brings together nervous system education, HeartMath-informed practices, and leadership coaching to help you build that capacity.
Because success isn’t just about how well you perform. It’s also about being the leader, colleague, parent, partner, and person you want to be when life and work get demanding.
That’s what sustainable ambition looks like to me.
Imagine being excellent at what you do WITHOUT feeling depleted by what it takes.
Just imagine:
- Finishing a difficult meeting without replaying every word on the drive home.
- Navigating a frustrating conversation without snapping at someone you care about.
- Handling a high-stakes decision without feeling like your entire system is running on overdrive.
- Closing your laptop and actually being present for the rest of your life.
Not because work has stopped being demanding. Not because you’ve stopped caring.
But because pressure doesn’t have to dictate how you think, feel, and show up.
Your ambition isn’t the problem. Let’s build the capacity to sustain it.
Start where you are.
Whether you’re curious about the science, ready to practice new skills, or looking for support changing how you lead, there’s a place to begin.

Hi, I’m Ally.

I work at the intersection of cybersecurity leadership, human behavior under pressure, and nervous system science.
By day, I lead cybersecurity education and awareness, helping people make smarter, safer decisions without the eye-glazing technical jargon or soul-crushing training modules.
By choice, I coach ambitious leaders who want to navigate high-pressure careers without sacrificing their well-being or sense of self.
I’m a HeartMath® Certified Coach, keynote speaker, author, and MBA. Across my work, I’m interested in the same question:
How do I help people show up as their best, most authentic selves when the pressure is on?
That question is what connects my work in cybersecurity with my work in coaching. In both, the human side of decision-making matters.
Because you can have all the knowledge and capability in the world. How you access and apply it under pressure matters, too (often more than you’d think!).
Your ambition isn’t the problem. Let’s build the capacity to sustain it.
You don’t have to choose between pursuing meaningful work and being someone you recognize and feel good about along the way.
